Over the last month I’ve slowly come to the conclusion that it was wrong to recommend the Sylvania G-Meso Netbook. This unit has some serious problems in some key features. You can find better value elsewhere. Basically after driving awhile and perhaps tapping on the brakes all the idiot lights come on at once - transmission fault, brake fault and suspension fault. The suspension fault is actually the most worrisome. The LR3 suspension is a modern miracle. I drove down to Miami after dinner on Monday night and stayed at the AWESOME DoubleTree Grand hotel that evening. (Thanks for the carboliscious cookie that was so not on my diet!) My path crossed with Bill Gates of Microsoft fame a number of times. I came out as type INTJ. Hmmm, not sure if that resembles me or not. Certainly some of it sounds like an accurate description. What do you think? ECHO? Hello-lo-lo-lo? If Japan succeeds in building its space elevator, I swear that I am definitely going to immigrate there (I’ll just keep knocking and knocking until they let me in) and leave this debating society behind. Its up there on the menu at the top of the page, next to the Bazaar. One of the things I wanted to do here was start to share some useful software tidbits when I had them and when the situation under which they were developed allowed for it. So its starts today with the offering of wrapper classes for the FreshBooks.com api. Moving from Albuquerque to Denver was a big change for the entire family, but a much larger change for my mother. She had lived her entire life in Albuquerque with a brief sojourn in Newfoundland while my father was in the Air Force. That was where I was born by the way, in St. BitLizardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09427013837805356294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2520018763060430963.post-55992535084978329252009-01-20T14:43:00.004-05:002009-01-20T14:49:24.514-05:00Zune car kit - impressive, no really!Just a short note on an addition I made to the Bazaar this morning… I received a Zune music player for Christmas this year and am really quite impressed by it all. I had a few difficulties in the beginning finding my way around. But now I really grok the whole thing and am using 100% of the features and loving it. This morning I tried out the car kit for the Zune which is a combination charger BitLizardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09427013837805356294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2520018763060430963.post-44715471706528112372009-01-11T11:38:00.002-05:002009-01-11T11:42:45.930-05:00Organic: buy the same thing for twice the priceAs my wife could tell you, I have an almost maniacal antipathy to the claims of "organic" food proponents. Perhaps it stems from the use of the term organic itself, as if all the other food was inorganic (which is preposterous, for those who fell asleep that day in Organic Chemistry). Or perhaps its just that many of these organic people also believe in the healing power of crystals and Feng ShuiBitLizardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09427013837805356294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2520018763060430963.post-3518727627207382112009-01-08T09:42:00.001-05:002009-01-08T09:42:22.466-05:00Buddy Don has a book! One of my favorite blog authors has now published a book. Now that is peculiar enough of an idea that I became immediately interested - especially since it turns out that the odds are pretty fair that we are living in a simulation! :-) I found an exhaustive treatment BitLizardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09427013837805356294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2520018763060430963.post-46554608284483951092008-12-25T15:40:00.000-05:002009-01-02T15:47:38.909-05:00The Best Things in Computing are FreeIt amazes me that given the high quality of free software applications these days, that cash-pinched businesses still slavishly and unthinkingly expend large amounts of money on the next version of Windows, or Microsoft Office, VMWare, etc. Well let me open your eyes, folks. In a lot of cases there are free versions of that functionality which is often better than the packaged software BitLizardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09427013837805356294noreply@blogger.com0
